1954. WISCO to be located in Qingshan district, Wuhan City as the experts of U.S.S.R . determined.
1955. The state approved the preliminary design scale of phase 1 of WISCO project¡ª1,200,000 ¨C 1,500,000 tons as the annual output of steel, and the project of Qingshan plant area was formally commenced.
1956. The ministry of Metallurgical Industry approved phase 2 of WISCO project--- 3,000,000 tons of the annual steel output as the continued construction.
1958. Chairman Mao Tsetung went up on platform of blast furnace No.1 watching molten iron of the first heat of blast furnace No.1.
1959. Open hearth furnace No.1 was put into production.
1960. The 1150 mm rolling mill of the blooming & scabbing plant succeeded in trial rolling, and WISCO completed construction of phase 1 of the project.
1963. The heavy steel rolling mill project was completed and put into production.
1964. WISCO made associated design of 2,000,000 tons--- annual steel output.
1966. The 2800mm rolling mill of the plate rolling plant was put into production,
1970. The production of iron & steel of WISCO topped dual 1,000,000 tons.
1972. The state approved that 1,700 mm rolling mill to be introduced and imported from Federal Germany and Japan would be constructed in WISCO.
1973. The state approved the preliminary design of dual 4,000,000 tons as the annual iron &steel output of WISCO.
1978. The cold rolling mill succeeded in trial rolling, continuous casting machine No.1 of steel works No. 2 succeeded in trial casting of material, silicon steel plant and hot strip mill projects were completed and put into production. The production of iron & steel of WISCO broke dual 2,000,000 tons.
1980. Comrade Deng Xiaoping inspected WISCO, WISCO was listed as an experimental unit to enlarge the enterprise own decision rights.
1981. Marine steel made in WISCO was awarded official approval of Ministry of the Metallurgical Industry, Sixty Ministry of Machine-Building and State ship Inspection Bureau; as well as approval of Federal Germany(GL), the United Kingdom (LR) and France (BV).
1982. 4C structural marine steel plate was awarded the state silver medal.
1983. Continuously hot-galvanized steel sheet was awarded the state gold medal; building form used steel sheet, H profile steel structure project of BAOSHAN STEEL self-equipped power plant were awarded the state silver medal. The production of iron & steel of WISCO topped dual 3,000,000 tons.
1984. Mine used hot-rolled H steel NO. 11 , No.12 and electric-tinned steel sheet were awarded the state silver medal. |
