The production of HiB silicon steel,WISCO’s strategic high-profile product, scored new high last year by exceeding 20,000 tons. In order to promote the upgrading of national industrial chain and lay down strong base for improving WISCO’s competitiveness, the production of HiB this January again hit new record, amounting to 2571 tons.　　

HiB is widely applied to the manufacturing of large transformer. Due to the great difficulties of its production,HiB is called top silicon steel.China has all along relied on import to satisfy its HiB demand and been constrained by foreign monopoly of technology.WISCO introduced HiB patent in 1992 and started research and production of its own HiB.But,as a result of poor conditions,WISCO didn’t make much progress then and failed to exceed 1000 tons in its HiB production till 2006.The proposal of WISCO’s eleventh five year plan presented a clear goal and the silicon steel management department as well as the scientific and technological innovation department were set up consequently ,showing WISCO’s pursuit and determination.

In the last days of 2006,Deng Qilin,WISCO’s general president proposed that the 20,000 ton HiB goal should be written into WISCO’s strategic plan and encouraged the staff to mobilize all efforts to improve our ability to produce HiB, striving to shake off reliance on import. Subsequently, WISCO’s factories did their best to overcome the difficulties in research and production, took a series of effective measures to better coordinate the relationship between management, production, marketing and research, and established relevant rules and regulations to standardize the production. All the efforts made by WISCO workers have paid: the bottleneck of HiB production has been broken through and the annual production exceeds 20,000tons,which quadruples 2006’s figure. HiB was finally successfully put into large-scale production!
